Who is Dave?
I was born October 30, 1965 in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, and raised in suburban Philadelphia. I graduated summa cum laude with a BSBA (majoring in Computer Science, and minoring in Finance) from the University of Florida in 1989. After graduation, I moved to Atlanta and worked in various corporate financial capacities including financial model development, special pricing analysis, competitive analysis, and promotional pricing development, before joining Cornerstone Financial in 2002.
I began investing in mutual funds when I was still in college, and am largely self-taught. During my corporate career, I noticed that many companies offered minimal education on
their Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Stock Option Plan, and 401(k) benefits. Some of these benefits offer the closest thing to a "free lunch" that you will ever get, if you know how to manage them! Realizing that many of my peers were not fully utilizing these benefits, I made it my mission to help educate them on how to optimize their use of these and other plans.

I have more than 25 years of personal investment experience, and more than 10 with Cornerstone Financial. My investment philosophy is best described as disciplined, methodical, and conservative---and I would have no problem if one labeled it "boring." I avoid investment fads and "get rich quick" schemes that are sometimes popular, and I never buy something that I don't understand. I also don't worry about trying to find the "next Microsoft." I believe that there is no way to consistently predict the short-term gyrations of the stock market, and that the best way to deal with this is through diversification. After all, it is far too easy to undo a lifetime of good decisions with one very bad decision!When I decided to join the financial services industry, I wanted to work for a small, independent firm with nobody telling me what products I have to sell in order to make them look good or make them extra money. Cornerstone Financial allows me to remain totally focused on my clients' best interests!
In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis (I am an active ALTA member for over 20 years) and other sports, reading, and dining at various ethnic restaurants.
